Xinhui Dried Tangerine Peel   $22/half pound
Specialty of Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, and a Chinese national geographical indication product.

The longer the tangerine peel is stored, the better its quality. If it has been stored for less than three years, it is referred to as "fruit peel" or "tangerine peel." Only when it has been stored for three years or more is it called "chenpi" (aged tangerine peel).

The best chenpi is produced in Guangdong, often called "Guang Chenpi" in historical trade to distinguish it from products from other provinces. The renowned Qing Dynasty physician Ye Tianshi specifically mentioned "Xinhui Peel" in his prescription for "Er Chen Tang". This is because chenpi from regions other than Xinhui has much lower medicinal effects, lacks the distinctive aroma, and has a bitter, spicy taste. Consequently, Xinhui chenpi is more expensive, often costing more than the tangerine fruit itself.

Xinhui chenpi emits a uniquely fragrant aroma. Due to its high medicinal value and its use as a traditional spice and seasoning, Xinhui chenpi has long enjoyed a stellar reputation. As early as the Song Dynasty, it was already a popular trade item in both northern and southern regions, and it is now sold nationwide and in Southeast Asia, America, and other areas.
